ABC - Achievement Begins with Caring

Abilene’s (USD 435),before and after school program provides out of school learning opportunities to the families of students enrolled in preschool to eighth grade. These services include tutoring, homework, physical activities, snacks, career development, character  education, social development and enrichment opportunities. 

Location of Pre-Kindergarten to 8th grade program:

Pre-Kindergarten to 1st grade students will attend the after school program at Kennedy. The program starts at 3:10. Students will complete homework, eat a snack, have free time to play and take part in an enrichment activity. 

2nd - 3rd graders will attend the after school program at McKinley Elementary.  Students will complete homework, eat a snack, have free time to play and take part in an enrichment activity. 

4th - 5th graders will stay at Eisenhower for the after school program.  Students will complete homework, eat a snack, have free time to play and take part in an enrichment activity.

6th - 8th graders will attend the after school program located at the Abilene Middle School. At 3:10 students will have a snack and complete homework. At 4:15 they will be bussed to the Abilene Community Center for activities and learning opportunities offered by the Abilene Park and Recreation Department. The 6th - 8th grade program ends at 5:30. Parents will need to pick up their middle school student at the Community Center.  No additional busing will be provided.This schedule will be for Monday thru Thursday only. If a 6th - 8th grader needs a place to attend on Friday, they may join the after school program at Eisenhower. 

ABC in a fee based service. The fees are based on a sliding scale due to  the families income status. Families are expected to pay a minimum fee to attend. Full scholarships are very limited and will be determined on an individual bases by the district administrator and the after school program director with the assistance of building administrators.

Pre K to 8th grade fees: 

Enrollment Fees: $15.00 per family with kids in grades Pre-K to 8th.  Maximum amount of fees per family will not exceed $15 for enrollment in the Abilene  Before and After School program.

Before School Program:  Fees are based off of two factors. The time the child is dropped off at the morning program and the families lunch fee status. The program opens at 5:15 AM and will be held at Eisenhower Elementary school at 1101 N.Vine. All before school students will be bused to their attendance center around 7:15 AM. Please contact the program director for program fees based on your situation. 

After School Program Pre K - 5th:  $5.00 per day for families who pay full price for lunch , $3.00 per day for families on reduced lunch prices and $2.00 per day for families who receive free lunches. A scholarship request is not needed to receive these deductions in daily fees. Parents will be required to show us their Free and Reduce lunch letter provided by the district. We are not allowed to obtain this information any other way. Parents must hand deliver a copy to us. Full price will be charged until the letter is received.

Abilene’s Middle School program 6th - 8th: Students who pay full price for their lunches will be charged $48 per month. Students on Reduced or Free lunches will pay $32 a month. Homework assistance will be provided at AMS and activities will provided by the Abilene Park and Recreation Department. This program is available Monday through Thursday. Supervision can be arranged on Friday if needed.

We figured your fees for the school year by dividing it by nine months for the Elementary kids and divided by eight months for the AMS students. This provides you with steady rate throughout the school year.
