Week 2:

Katy Hyatt

Katy grew up in Milford, Iowa. It is part of the Great Lakes, and she claims that it's a great vacation spot!  A couple of her favorite childhood memories include… Her and her brother playing in the snow on snow days. They would build forts and throw snowballs. During the summer, they would ride their bikes and they enjoyed the lakes near their home.  She majored in elementary education, minored in theology, and she also earned a reading endorsement at Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa.  Katy decided to be a teacher because she loves being with children, love helping people, and love to learn. She thinks that learning is a work of perseverance and enjoys modeling that for her students.  She’s always wanted to be a teacher since a very young age.  Before she came to Abilene, she taught third grade in Ames, Iowa for 8 years.  Her hobbies right now are updating the 100+ year old farmhouse she has recently purchased. She also likes to read, craft, attend music concerts, and be with her family.
